A small practice
for hard technical problems.
Wild Ducks is built around a simple conviction: the most interesting thing about technology is what it lets people do next.
What Wild Ducks is.
An independent technology practice, and the home for long-term collaborations and products of its own. The work is the part of a project where the technology still has to be made to work: a camera that has to be trusted, a model that has to run on hardware you already own, an agent that has to be useful and still answer to a person.
It is founder-led and deliberately small. You deal with the person designing and building the system, and specialists join when the project needs them.
The thread through the work.
A large camera network. A banking integration. A billboard that recognised a Porsche before it arrived. A synthetic conversation with room for a perfectly timed interruption. An open model that knows which way is up. Different projects, one question: what becomes possible when the pieces are connected properly?
Most of them start with a job that ordinary tools make harder than it should be. A technician needs to see a screen change without taking over the machine. An operator needs an alert that says what to do next. A surf club still scores its contests on paper. Find that gap, remove the ceremony, ship the capability.
How Wild Ducks works.
- Curiosity with a purpose.Explore what the technology can do. Then find the part that changes someone’s day, opens a market, or makes a difficult job possible.
- More capability. More control.People should be able to shape the outcome: direct a generated voice, inspect an alert, revoke a shared view, or steer delegated work.
- Less ceremony. Better tools.Complexity belongs in the engineering. An operator with a job to do should not need to become the system’s troubleshooter.
- Honest progress.Try things, test them, and say what works. A prototype is a way to learn; a working product has to earn people’s trust in use.
The company.
Wild Ducks is the short name of Wild Duck Technology Services Pty Ltd, established in New South Wales in 2016. Its own products sit alongside long-term collaborations, and the founder is directly involved in the thinking and the building.
